Volume Three, Chapter 14, Page 561
Thanks for understand the need for a break, everyone, I needed some time to work things out with what I want to do.
With that said, you’ll also notice that the comic looks a bit different. Truth of the matter is that there are several other projects that I am working on (commissions, two other comics and a novel) and I don’t have enough time to work on all of it. I loved coloring Evon and it allowed me the practice that I desperately needed, but fully coloring and shading just one page of Evon takes me between eight to ten hours on average. I just can’t use up that much time on just one thing. So, for now on I’ll be using a very traditional black and white approach to the comic. There will also be a change in the update schedule, but I will announce that when I’m ready to make that change (probably at the end of this chapter).
It’s a hard decision to make and I’ve struggled with it for few last few days. Evon is my baby and I hold the story and all of the characters close to my heart, but with so many other ideas rolling around in my head I need to find ways to make the time to work on them. And, hopefully, you all will be able to enjoy the other projects that I have in the works as well 🙂
No new incentive today, but I should have Freya all colored up by Friday 🙂
Coughs coughs Bull$hit bull$hit. I mean come on even I could see right through that one. He may be on the bottom in rank but he is no fool. He know that he want that report to see if he can increase his own power.
Uh huh yeah righ pinnochio.
Max, you’re talking to the Cabal’s established schmoozer and spy. If you think you’re going to wrap him around your little finger, it’s going to take a lot more than wordplay. Shakar could probably give you a master class.
Comic still looks great in black-and-white, Britt. 😀 We’ll certainly still take it. Whatever makes things easier for you to produce the work you love, it’s generally a good thing.
Besides, that means coloring can become a special thing. Your incentives, the odd “super important” page or scene. Makes it that much more to anticipate!
At 8-10 hours per page we can only be grateful you’ve managed to last this long. Thanks for all the color! I’m with Mr. Casual in hoping that there will be occasional special colorings. We know how just about all the characters look in color, but it would be nice to have the added information when something new comes along. Like Evon’s outfit on arrival at Port Venture (http://evoncomics.com/?comic=volume-three-chapter-12-page-492). I think that’s the best outfit in the history of the comic but it wouldn’t have been nearly as striking in black and white.
Despite what I just said, I’m in this for the story, so black and white will do me fine. I’m going to have to get used to some things, though. I don’t know how to interpret all the diagonal shading on and behind Max and Shakar today.
Colour looked great, but the black and white looks just as great
You know, to this very day you can open almost any newspaper out there in the world and turn to “the funny pages” which sometimes included a word puzzle. And they were most or all black and white. Color comics were for the Sunday edition. Everybody has heard of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts comic strip. Don’t need color to be good. Just sayin’.
