… pissing off/attempting, and failing, to kill a mage is a good way to shorten your life span or ruin the rest of whatever scrap of life you have left after they get done with you.
Hmm. Interesting. She’s been waiting for this marriage so badly that she jumps into bed with several other guys while waiting for Hero. I realize that a woman can wait just so long; but, if she REALLY loved him, she would have saved herself for him.
I donno about saving herself, sex and love are quite different things, and the idea of royal consorts are readily accepted. Even she didn’t agreed to even as a consort for him. That and there are certain to be legal loose ends that the marriage would finalize, such as getting her out from under her father and as head lady of a household instead of the king’s daughter, who would be behind the king, mother, various royal ministers, any and all brothers, ect.
But competition on the other hand……
Oh and Brittany, a Severus would be an interesting cameo to appear, maybe as a potions dealer ( what was his patronas again? )
Ah, but, there’s one difference. Hero has made in clear that he has no desire to marry Cleo. Cleo, on the other hand, keeps talking about how much she wants to marry Hero. Therefore, if Cleo wants to be his wife so badly, she should be willing to wait on him. If I was happy about marrying someone, I’d most definitely keep myself away from other women and be a bit more happy when my chosen future wife is around. Wouldn’t you?
But she’s been waiting for years. And now that Hero’s back, she’s not going to let him run off again. Which we know he will at the slightest excuse. Naturally, she can’t/won’t accept that SHE is the reason he keeps running off. As far as Cleo is concerned, Hero is hers and that is that.
And so Cleo begins assembling her petard, the one she’ll foist herself on.
Even if Evon doesn’t curb-stomp her, Hero will treat even a social manipulation to drive away Evon as a betrayal. Should Cleo force the marriage, she’ll become a kept woman — kept locked in an unused cellar.
I’m home sick today. When I’m sick my mind works funny. I assume that the the “foist” was an auto correct error (should be “hoist”). But the real question is, do people even know what a petard is anymore? P.S. Loved the reference. I thought I was the only one that used it anymore. 🙂
To be perfectly honest, I had heard the phrase, “to hoist one’s own petard” a long, LONG time ago but I never knew what it meant until I saw the phrase in one of the Evon strips from a few months back. I googled it and that’s how I learned what it meant. I may never use the phrase in my writing; but, I do find it an interesting phrase nonetheless.
You know there is a way for Hero to be with Evon in my country we had the right of challenge which means the head of house Load or Lady can challenge with a champion to win the right of marriage of anyone they choose. (Evon is a noble so can call the right to challenge)
As for Alan, a truly sad loss. Losing him and Bowie was an awful one-two punch. 🙁 I will always remember his roles fondly. By Grabthar’s hammer, I want those detonators, Mr. Potter.
If I had closed my eyes during this video, I would have actually thought the Alan Rickman was in the studio and talking. John Sessions had him down pat.
Cleo. We all know your a Pretty Bitchy Princess. But you need to think about things first. You are planning something that might be with the Cabal to get ridd of Evon. And I’m 99.9% sure that it will ultimately blow up in your face, disgrace yourself and even get yourself in big trouble with your father for causing such anarchy in his kingdom.
Too bad she can’t find someone who actually wants her.
I also wonder if she really cares about him at all, or is just doing this because she’s been told her whole life that it is what she was meant to do.
And Hero needs to stop being such a wimp about it as well.
Ah crap, Alan Rickman too??? Man, not even a month in and 2016 is turning out to be a horrible year. Just got through watching Labyrinth in memoriam of David Bowie, now I need to watch my copy of Galaxy Quest for Alan Rickman (I don’t own any of his other movies, unfortunately). :C And I get this news just after binge-watching a particularly sad anime, too. :’C
If you can find it, another rather good movie with Alan Rickman in it is “Quigley Down Under.” I’m a fan of Tom Selleck and I bought that movie just because of Tom. Alan Rickman is/was wonderful in this movie.
Especially since, aside from being a fairly powerful mage, she’s also been trained to use a sword thanks to Hero. Although, once you’re used to one form of fighting, incorporating another into the mix is extremely difficult. Battle Mages do it all the time, but then they’re trained in both magic and melee fighting from the start. I have a feeling Evon hasn’t been trained as such.
However, I imagine she’s more than capable of making Cleo regret her life choices by magic. Can she do so with a sword? Unknown, as it hasn’t been shown whether Cleo has been trained in such (although I doubt it, she’s more the ‘poison you in your sleep’ type), but Evon definitely has the edge in magic. And that’s just Evon, of course, Cleo would really be in trouble if she pissed off Evee. Or, heaven forbid, both of them at the same time.
My only worry is that she’ll try to get the Cabal involved in this, which could work more than she had planned; as they’d not only have Evon but they’d either capture Hero as well (to get Evon to go along with them) or try to kill him outright. Then, of course, there’s the repercussions to Cleo’s family and estate for involving them in a political matter. Either way, this doesn’t bode well for Miss Kitty.
To those who have expressed sympathy in the passing of Alan Rickman and David Bowie, I just learned that they were BOTH 69 y.o. at the time of their passing. Interesting bit of trivia.
Legends never die, they live on in the hearts of men until they are immortalized in history . On another note all of you are forgetting the era in question. In medieval Europe a woman was never free nor had rights except for a few instances like becoming the head of the castle. Which is why she could care less about hero leaving once he is gone and she is the lady of the house she has a say in matters pertaining to herself and others. And as for her being loose ( like her pootang ) it’s not like they’re getting married for love ,yes they will consummate the wedding and seek a heir , but for the most part it was and is a business transition betwixt the duke and hero’s dad/ hero to keep rank and secure the bloodlines.
If Cleo DOES confront Evon directly, she will learn the hard way that Evon is a high level mage.
Yeah, I see two possible outcomes from that confrontation. Cleo will survive the funny one.
… pissing off/attempting, and failing, to kill a mage is a good way to shorten your life span or ruin the rest of whatever scrap of life you have left after they get done with you.
That should be and/or.
The years he spent away before he even met Evon are irrelevant apparently.

Damn typos…
She agreed to Evon as a consort, so she knew full well that he wasn’t saving himself for her.

If I recall, his patronus was the same as Lily Potter’s, a doe.
She wants the marriage, and the power that comes with it, not Hero
What’s love got to do with it?
The little peasant girl, that owns a castle . . .
Rule 1 – do not piss off the mage.
And so Cleo begins assembling her petard, the one she’ll foist herself on.

Some of us are old school, Mr. Wax. She’s hoisting her own petard, and is gonna end up foisting it on herself.

No, not autocorrect, just a slipped memory. I was tempted to call it a self-fulfilling prophecy, but Cleo isn’t prophesying anything.
still an ‘explosive’ thought, though

Maybe we’ll get lucky, and Cleo’s gonna try to kill the wrong “Evon”.
As for Alan, a truly sad loss. Losing him and Bowie was an awful one-two punch. 🙁 I will always remember his roles fondly. By Grabthar’s hammer, I want those detonators, Mr. Potter.

Excellent manner of crossing the streams, Mr. Casual! Excellent, indeed! And I agree with you wholeheartedly. ‘Tis truly a sad week…

I doubt she actually wants Hero. It’s his title, estate, and privileges she wants.

R.I.P Mr. Rickman.

That makes 4 since Christmas, all from cancer… Lemmy was on the 28th and I just saw a post about Dan Haggerty dieing this morning.
“This antitank mine in the road is in my way; I think I’ll just kick it into the gutter…”
OH! it’s got a ‘bouncing betty’ anti-personnel mine keyed with it.
no problem. I’ll hit it with my club…
and that hornets nest, too.
Please tell me Cleo’s stupid enough to challenge Evon in public…the beatdown would be incredibly cathartic to watch.

yeah, right.
take Hero hostage and find out what happens when Evon and Evee bury their hostility to save him.
Cleo doesn’t strike me as the type to do much of anything publicly except attract attention.

If it’s even the RIGHT Cleo
Right Cleo? I don’t remember seeing another one. Are you perhaps referring to Evee and Evon?
Cleo has always wanted to be “lady Dent”,instead of”The dukes daughter”.
