My guess would be Feneris – as strange as that may seem. If my memory serves, we have already seen a rift beginning to form between him and the rest of the cabal – which should make things pretty interesting when Hero gets back into the picture.
You may notice that even Hero needs rescuing from time to time. There is actually only one character in this story that I’ve written that doesn’t need help from time to time. Even Evee needs help now and then.
I’m betting Belvi is the one who doesn’t need help? So far he’s seemed uncannily competent, and even other experienced warriors have been cowed by his mere presence.
@Drakenfang, Belvidier may seem like not needing help, but what is his network of informants, if not help? That said, I too thought of him when reading about only one character not needing help – until I realized what I had just mentioned.

I have mixed emotions right now. I’m happy that someone put him down but angry it wasn’t her. I’m hangry….. Yes let’s go with hangry I think I’m making that a thing.
Angry? Why so? If she’d fried Maximus that would have cut short the narrative possibilities pretty drastically. I am curious about your reaction as to WHO actually saved her this time. If my instinct is correct, you are in for a bit of a surprise when a former enemy turns into a potential ally.
Narratively this makes perfect sense actually – especially since it underlines that even in her avatar-form evon is not invincible – which very much helps with keeping a character relatable.
There’s that bottle of dark matter on the floor next to Maximus. If Evon can get her head together, maybe she should drink the whole thing. 😉 Or if it is in fact Evee, I wonder what would happen if SHE drank it all.
Regarding Evee, I do hope she and Evon can come to some sort of understanding, maybe even become friends.
If Maximus is right (http://evoncomics.com/?comic=volume-four-chapter-20-page-825) and that Evon naturally draws dark matter from the Earth and is able to take it in without having her mind warped, she probably could drink that whole bottle and do nothing more than burp.
The question though is what would that do to Evee if she drank it.
A question for readers about the “shoulder angels” picture — do you think:
a) Evon is the angel and Evee is the devil?
b) Evon is the devil and Evon is the angel?
c) One of them is both?
d) Something else?
Yea no… Ingesting that sounds like instant death or instant permanent feralness, which is not much better than death…

Evee has no real reason to save Evon other than to see which one Hero would chose between her and Evon.
Feneris is pretty much live and let die at this point, but actually seems like he might save her if he found her with Maximus.
Sevarian obviously is getting sick of Maximus’ crap and it wouldn’t be surprising if he went to investigate Maximus , if nothing more than to kill Maxi himself. But he would clearly be hardly any better than Maxi in the whole kidnapping thing…

True enough! But Evon has needed help almost constantly. I’m just looking forward to the time when she can kick ass all on her own.
