Also very Belvidier, but to me it sounds more like “carrying unconcious Evon across the lands, travelling in the hidden”-Belvidier than “about to fight”-Belvidier
Clearly they know one another (given their similar demeanors they might even both have been part of that organization at some point) and just as clearly it worries our kidnapper very much to see who is there to protect his victim. It’s so not going to go well for him if he doesn’t back down and leave.
It is more that Cleo only told a half-truth: that Evon was a powerful sorceress wanted by the Cabal. The lie comes in telling him that Evon was evil. He is going on the “fact” that she can still be swayed by the Cabal.
Well, we have a dilemma here. You know our good butler is not going to let Evon go without a fight and our fine witch hunter is not going to let anyone stop him from taking his trophy to the Cabal.
I didn’t think the hunter worked with the cabal. I thought the reason Cleo mentioned that the cabal was ‘interested’ in Evon was the reason why the hunter was trying to take Evon out.
yeah.. and lady Cleo just left out the fact that Evon was being protected by Hero, which might have clued Mr. hunter in that Belvidere is also protecting Evon.
between Hero and Belvidere there is not much chance of Evon ending up in the Cabal’s hands again.
Heh, had forgotten what lie that bitch had told Walking Butt-kicked
Would have figured someone like him would have confirmed all the details, whelp, too late for a next time
He made the mistake of assuming that he could trust Cleo due to her rank and station and what she said to lure him into acting as he has was truth so far as it went, leaving out things like how vehemently against the Cabal she is and would dearly love to destroy it.
In this sort of time and culture, the rules sort of work in the following way…
1. Royalty is the ultimate authority and cannot by definition be wrong.
2. If you think a member of Royalty might be wrong, consult rule one.
From the knowledge he has of both Hunter and his “organization” I get the feeling Hunter is Belvidiers’ little brother and as any one who has an older brother knows its never smart to challenge him.
It’s been pointed out the Hunter and Belvi are different species, thus highly unlikely that they are family relations. I’m inclined to think Hunter may have been a *student* of Belvi in the butler’s dark past.
“What are YOU doing here?”
“I’m a butler. I butle.”
hehe.. I do what butler’s do,, I tidy up the place and take out the TRASH.!”
… and I also kill self-entitled little twits like yourself. (edited for language)

Time for a tactical retreat Mr. Hunter!
“In other words: Leave, or I shove my boot up your arse and use your head to kick rocks.”
.. hunter so dont want to do this.!! an panel 8!! up till then ,, “fine we’ll talk” .. then, gloves are off ( so to speak )
Step 1: Parley
Step 2: Forcibly apply boot to subject’s posterior.

You know it’s getting serious when the Butler takes the gloves off.
all i can hear in my head is the Mortal Kombat announcer’s voice saying “Round 1, FIGHT!” and then the Mortal Kombat theme starts playing XD
MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!
Belvidier’s fatality shall simply be called “The Consequence” and involve a fork.
NUTS!!! to leave us on such a cliff hanger over the weekend! How cruel to you audience. But then it does ensure we will be back for more!!
Wulp. He’s boned.
I see , this feels like an old argument being renewed.

I would say, “Game On.”

I’m thinking “Black Butler”

Yeah, but only a rookie would accept the assignment on face value and not do checks first

When a butler takes the gloves off,
You know that blows will land.
Though many here might doubt and scoff,
‘Tis manners maketh man.
I suspect what follows will be interesting, entertaining, and educational.
I’ve long suspected that our VERY reserved ‘butler’ was far more than he appeared or presented himself. It’s a nice surprise to see that’s the case.
I look forward to the next several postings.. but then I always do on this strip.
VERY well done!
Oh we have already seen a hint of his ability before. Now we will probably get to see a lot more than hints.
This chapter makes me love Belvidier even more. I look forward to see what happens next!
Totally ignored making my own comic to read yours. Ha ha!
Belvidier is putting off a very Obi-Wan Kenobi faces Vader feel to me. With luck he’ll fair much better, or will Hero have to learn to use the Force?
Never tangle with the butler.

*Squee!* And now we see what the man who trained Hero can do when he’s properly irritated.
