Anyone else think he’s a retired witch hunter?

That would be one possibility. Alternatively he could be a renowned assassin of some sort.

She’s a noble, he’s a servant, of COURSE she failed to take his measure. It’s a rare noble that sees servants as anything but furniture or animals.

Now why did this comment end up here instead of where I intended it?

well he does dress like an assassin out of discworld.
“All assassins had a full-length mirror in their rooms, because it would be a terrible insult to anyone to kill them when you were badly dressed.”

if Cleo isn’t careful, she’ll find herself Inhumed..

He spoke of the witch-hunter’s employers as “your organization” which suggests he was not part of the same group himself. Still, it’s obvious they have both worked in similar enough circles to know each about other.

If the candle just went out without being blown out I hope Lady Cleo is a good listener. And Evon may have a better guardian than anyone thought.

“Poof!” Out of nowhere. Suddenly there, next to her. Staring her down, with deep anger in his voice. Got in without anyone seeing or hearing him enter in anyway. Zero evidence that he was ever there . Keep in mind this is the home of her father. the ruler of all these lands. This means there are many, many guards. None of them saw or heard a thing. That would get my attention. If she isn’t in the middle of a “OH SH*T!!” moment right now. she is more of an idiot then I thought she was.

And as a bonus (and insurance that she’ll never consider Evon a rival again), he’ll order her to beg out of the betrothal to Hero.

I still say Belvidier is secretly a descendant of the Caerbannog line.

Don’t. Fuck. With the Butler. The Butler knows all. The Butler sees all. He has been here before you, and he will be here when you are just a memory. Nobles do not own their estates. The Butler merely loans them out to them, for a time.

She is learning what true terror is after being sheltered from it due to her noble status all her life, maybe she’ll survive the experience.

Oh its a given she will survive the experience. After all, he did not threaten death. Though when he’s though, she may well wish for death if she screws up.

“Icy Stare” if I ever saw one. I hope we get to learn what Belvie’s story is. I am mightily intrigued. And glad someone is finally putting Cleo in her place, though I was still hoping Hero would do it.

I’m so happy I found your comic two days ago. I’m in love with this story and the two main characters. It was amazing to see how the art has developed from the earlier releases to now. The only bad part is the fact that the binge reading is now over and I have to wait like the rest of your dedicated readers from now on.
This is now on my list as one of my favorite web comics ever, and I’ll be here for every post from now on. <3

just noticed why is cleo looking up at the tips of his ears than at his face in all of the panels?

Maybe there’s a plasma arc bridging between them.

Ah, I didn’t notice that. Maybe we’re not seeing what she’s seeing–a Belvidier a foot taller than his real height?

      • Deragon Rider
        November 8, 2016, 10:44 PM | # | Reply

No, we can see in panel 2 that they both are in the same panel and he is seen not that much taller than her. At least as far as I can tell.

I’d say it’s meant to show he’s (at least in her mind) looming over her.

“If you don’t or disregard me in any way…”

I think a word is missing in that sentence.

    • Nightmask
      November 12, 2016, 2:41 AM | # | Reply

The sentence is acceptable as is, although some might feel like it should also have the ‘if you’ repeated after the ‘or’ (as in ‘if you don’t or if you disregard me’). It’s not however necessary.

Actually, what it needs is commas.

“If you don’t, or disregard me in any way, then I will make sure that the rest of your existence is as miserable as possible.”

I’ve often wondered how Belvidier’s name is pronounced. It is Bel-vi-deer or is it Bel-vi-dee-ay. It looks French but I don’t speak French. I barely speak English. LOL.
