That’s a good look for Cleo. (Yes, I despise her mind, why do you ask?)
Anyway, Max is giving Evon some good information. I wonder if she can put it to immediate use — against him!
That is the question, isn’t it. They’ll tell him things to consider, I think. At this point, both are equal in power because both are fueled by dark matter. But Max have to ingest dark matter. So does that mean that that it will wear off in him, requiring him to ingest some more? Evon on the other hand seems to have an infinite supply. So it will never wear off in her. But will she be able to maintain her focus and keep pounding on Max until the effects of dark matter wears off in him?
She looks very calm and focused in the last panel. Hopefully she can use that information he’s giving her like you say.
In your opinion, do you think Maximus is trying to tempt (and ill-fated attempt at that) Evon to the “dark side”?
I think that’s what Max is trying to do, but I believe he’ll be terribly disappointed…
I’m actually not sure what he’s trying to accomplish really. I can’t imagine he’d be able to win her over though. Seeing him leave Herodutus to drown in that lake is a sure-fire way to make sure she’ll never willingly join him.
My best guess is that he’s intent on trying to break her will. Back on Page 380 or so, he said outright he wants to breed with her to produce offspring as powerful as she is.
“Great! Thanks for the lecture.”
*proceeds to roast Max alive*
Um… you do know that the monologue is the best way to lose a fight, right?
+1 🙂
Especially when said monologue includes instructions on how to beat you.
Max’ speech reminds me of a line from a 1950s song, “You talk too much.”
No, Max–you fool. Evon is not naive to use it properly; she’s wise enough to know that the Dark Matter would completely corrupt her.
Apparently, she is the one person in the room who doesn’t have to worry about corruption. Good infor for her to have. Not so good for him.
He’s so busy showing how ‘smart’ he is, he is failing to see that none of his attacks are getting anywhere close to her, and all she is doing is getting angrier and more focused
Love the incentive picture. The kid is getting good at drawing bondage.
Is it just me, or is he giving Evon the clues to using her power?
No, it’s not just you. Maximus is giving Evon clues to using her power (as noted by the other posters in this thread), but to what end? I cannot believe that Maxi is so clueless as to think he can turn Evon to the dark side.
A death wish on his behalf, perhaps? Or perhaps someone else wants Evon to utterly destroy Maximus to further their own plans?
“Plans within plans within plans”?
It could be simple megalomania.
“The simplest explanation is usually the most correct.” (a paraphrase of Occam’s Razor)
Happy Saint Stupid’s day!
is this where she crushes his head? or does he run his mouth more 1st?
Don’t have any business talking about how naive she is when your group actively sabotaged her development both from a magical standpoint and from a social standpoint.
I understand what you’re saying, but without conflict from the antagonists, there would be no story. As a result, the protagonists have to suffer for the story to remain engaging.
The best stories are those that make the hero suffer…
