I had to re-read the second panel several times to catch the full meaning of the text. But then the question comes forth, what ‘grand favor’ could that have been.
What ever it was, it would have been ‘cleaning up’ some shit he caused in the first place

Yep… Oriana seems all too thrilled to be marrying Ferneris… Well now we know how he got close to Evon. My guess is that someone namely Sevarian tried similar shyt, or possibly threatened Evon, to get her to cooperate and She was better at fending him off, until y’know… he ended up killing her….
Note how he simply said “offered her hand”, not that she went ahead with the deal 😛
