Hero definitely needs some kind of anti-magical protection. This will be an interesting battle, but I somehow doubt Ferny is going out in this fight. He seems like the type of guy who’s either going to eventually switch sides, or have some kind of tragic redemption.
I never really understood this mindset. The hero has just charged into the castle, slaughtering guards left and right with hardly a word. He fights his way to the big bad guy in the central keep, just before he finalizes his nefarious scheme. And THAT’S when he stops to ask the big bad to step aside/come quietly/give up peacefully.
Didn’t those poor schmucks on guard duty deserve that chance a heck of a lot more than the mastermind behind the whole thing?
He actually has a long enough history with her that he isn’t exactly happy with the situation. Go back to 880 and take a look at his expressions in the following pages. Hero knows he has a history as well.
The guards would be more scared of the mages than a guy with a sword since there is a good chance they don’t know who he is.
I don’t think Evee would let Hero face the Big Bad with providing him with some anti-magic (or enchanted) armor. Remember, she does “love” him and does not want to lose him.
Ferneris honestly makes me sick. His halfhearted suggestion to Hero to turn back when obviously he’s getting more and more uncertain with his misgivings about this whole situation
His claim of caring for Evon is superficial and selfish; it might be sincere but deep down he knows this is wrong and absolutely unjust and he’s maintaining loyalties to a man and an organization that don’t deserve his loyalty
The way I see it, it’s less loyalty than cowardice. He believes that Sevarian is too powerful to be defeated, period. He has given up any hope of resistance and only seeks to minimize the damage caused while enacting Sevarian’s will.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN (tomorrow)!!!!!!
Unless Evee makes a surprise appearance from the side, I have a feeling it will not go well for Herodotus.

I’ll take that last panel as Hero saying, “No.”
Actually what is Hero wearing? Because i get the feeling that it’s enchanted armor in which case he’s more than prepared.

[meta] Ooh, lurvely vote bait!
Determination’s writ large on Herodutus’ physiognomy; that boy’s doing what needs doing, come what may.
OhByTheWay: Happy new year from the Brythonic and Goidelic contingents (Nos Calan and Samhain season).
And my strange thought is: Wait, Hero is left handed? How did I miss that this whole time?
