Volume Three, Chapter 11, Page 482

Hey all! I hope everyone had a good holiday, had super fun giggle times with their family and loved ones and ate plenty of pie! Personally, I happily OD’d on pie and am darn proud of it! ^_^
The incentive I have up for today is some more quick concept stuff for ArchAngel. This time it’s twin bunnies, Yuri (long hair) and Yuna (short hair and sleepy), who are also in Thekla’s class.
UPDATE: Sorry, the new incentive should be visible now ^_^
He doesn’t want to hang around because he knows Venir too well
Way to not console her at all, Hero!
“Nonsense. I chose to help, so I accept the consequences.”
“If there’s anyone to blame for me getting hurt, it’s the ones who did it.”
“You can’t fight this alone, and I’m not about to let you.”
Take any of these, and expel from mouth! She’s probably going to try to sneak away again. :/
The sound you have just heard is the palm of my hand impacting with my forehead whilst thinking ‘Hero, you are missing an OPPORTUNITY her!’
Here. The word I want is ‘here’. Damn hand injuries…
Ah, that Hero, being practical as always. Don’t give her time to think or blame herself, and don’t give her time to recall you’re supposed to talk about certain evenings you spent with multiple women! On top of that, strike out onto the road soon… Venir is very likely to report where they are to “save Hero from the witch” (of course this translates to making a cubic buttload of money). Hero, in his own way, IS consoling her. He isn’t poetic or long-winded. The fact he said anything even remotely comforting is a sign he cares about her well-being. But, also… he did just break ties with an old ‘friend’, he’s probably grumpy and will inevitably do something sweet to make up for it to her.
“Cubic buttload”? I’m going to have to remember that unit of meassurement. 😉
Long as he does it before Evon does something impulsive in the name of “protecting” him. She’s been known to do impulsive things.
Practicality or not, a simple few words of comfort would’ve gone a long way toward easing her mind. Hero may be a man of few words, but he’s a noble, he should understand how powerful words can be.
Ha. The bird inthe first panel just looks dumb to me. Its the helmet harness. I just find it really funny.
Oddly enough, there’s real world historical precedence with war horses having essentially the same thing. If they couldn’t see that they were charging another mounted knight, they wouldn’t flinch and throw off the aim of a lance, and it was easier to guide a horse into melee that way. As galorn are the primary mounts, it makes sense for a fighter to do the same.
I did not know that. I knew horses had blinders, and covered bridges are so horses don’t freak out if they accidently look down.
Trust me, having the horse shy at the last minute is very, very bad. Took almost an hour to get that breastplate off… Uber-owie.
Speaking of which, Ms. B. and Mr. Wax, what is the carrying capacity of a galorn and would heavy ‘cavalry’ have barding for the mounts, at least to cover the more vital areas? Would there also be other ‘breeds’ to accomodate an armored rider? Say, the difference between a quarter horse and Percheron? Or better yet, a Frisian, which, BTW, is the equine version of a panzer when properly barded.
And yes. I’m a bastard because I ask silly things like this. Sorry.
The typical Galorn would fall in to the light cavalry mounts of the 19th century. That is, a rider, his weapon and a small amount of gear. And yes, there are various breads that can handle more weight. However, even on the top end they would fall well short of heavy warhorses.
I love the little details. I could see where a light mount would have a definite advantage. Lighter equals speed and agility, definitely a plus for hit and fade tactics. And heavy war horses were devastating, but like a run-away tractor trailer, were, and are, hard to stop and turn. If the gait of the galorn is similar to an ostrich, I could see where mounted archers would also be devastating. Not to mention, if they do have that kind of similarity a kick could be potent, more so if they’re outfitted with spurs like one would a rooster for cockfighting. And no, I do not condone the fighting of animals for amusement.
Of course, being the twisted SOB that I am, I am now wondering what the Mongol hoardes would have been like on galorn…
The kick of a galorn is definetly vicious. But that’s not the bad part. The beak is a galorn’s primary weapon. It is quite capable of crushing a man’s skull or mangeling a limb with a single bite. It’s like a built in axe.
I like axes. So versitile, fitting for almost any occasion! Just not recommended for formal gatherings. Thank god i’ve been banned from those…
leave now if youknow what good for you Hero
hey semi-new took me 2 weeks to read (2 hours aday)
love the evil look in pannal 2… was it hard to draw the eye like that?
just courious… thinking of starting a comic myself
well once i get my own comp
I wouldn’t say it was hard to draw, no. Like most things it just takes practice 🙂
Betrayal by Venir in 5…4…3…
Lesson learned.
Heroes can’t be friends with mercenary’s.
