I think Evon needs a moment to cool her hot little head. Probably for the best, we don’t want her causing too much trouble.
And now for a school update, those that follow my Twitter may already know this, but I’m taking another independent graphic novel class this quarter (when I took it in the fall quarter was when I came up with Furry Fantasy) and the project that I have decided to work on is a redux of Chapter One of Evon. It’ll have all new art, some changed in dialog and possibly be in full color. If all goes well this will also result in the first chapter of Evon being available in print sometime mid to late summer.
If sells go well (which I’m really hoping they do), the plan is to try and come out with a chapter redux every six months, but more details on that will come when it gets closer to that time.
Chapter One redux will be available in regular print form and artist edition (with me doodling an extra doodle or two inside the book). The pre-order stage will be announced when the book is closer to be completed 🙂
And on an unrelated note, though some of you may have already seen this, I shall leave you with the trailer for the newest Winnie the Pooh movie to come out.
Why Winnie the Pooh, you ask?
1) It’s a return to Disney’s 2D style, which I’m sure many of us miss (though I still love Pixar)
and
2) I’m a sucker for that bear ^^
Also, the illustrator of the original Winnie the Pooh books, E.H. Shepard, and I share the same last name. Coincidence? Maaaaaaaybe
I liked the books by A.A. Milne. It’s a shame that the big corporation had to come in and ruin it.
I used to watch that series a lot when I was a kid. It’s still the best childrens series out there, as far as I’m concerned. It doesn’t have the ‘too kiddified’ feel that most of the other ones do, it still gives kids a valuable lesson, the artwork was awesome, and it was something that adults could watch as well.
As for having the same last name as E.H. Shepard, well, let’s just say you’re not the only one here related to a famous person. ;3 You know Peter Mayhew? He’s my cousin. =3
Yeah, I love to original Winnie the Pooh cartoon series. It’s one of the times things that really got me into liking bears as cartoon characters (the major one being Disney’s TailSpin).
Also, it’s cool that you really have a famous relative. I highly doubt that I’m actually related to E.H. Shepard. We share the same last name, but I think it was just wishful thinking ^^
Who knows, you could be related to her. You have the same last name for a reason, you know. It’s not like a first name, which is picked at birth, a last name is a family name. So I’m willing to bet you’re related to her. ^^
I’m glad they’re making a movie of Winnie the Pooh, kids need a good movie to see in theaters with their parents.
Except that Shepard is a relatively common last name. Unlike Rothschild, Windsor, Borgia, or Nelson.
I met Peter Mayhew back in 1981 at a Sci-Fi convention in Bay Area, California. (I can’t remember which city exactly.)
D:< I hate winnie the pooh so this is my least favorite page ever
You hate Winnie the Pooh? Why? D:
I don’t care one way or the other where Winnie the Pooh is concerned. I dislike Disney studios. They absolutely refuse to leave a good story line alone. The most recent such debacle was the movie “John Carter”. I’m a BIG fan of the Barsoom series of books by Edgar Rice Burroughs and hated what Disney did to that story.
Uh-oh. Split from the herd! Watch out for stealthy predators. You can just feel the pain and frustration in that last panel. A very well-done expression, Ms. Britt. :j
The Pooh! That looks awesome. A true homage to the whimsy and quiet nonsense of the older stories, updated with today’s aesthetics for animation and visuals. I approve. Those characters are the only traditional Disney characters that I still look back on fondly. I’m glad they didn’t go with a “Christopher Robin grows up” storyline, either. That whole universe belongs eternally in the imagination of a young child.
And speaking of updates, a redux of early Evon would be interesting to see. (Not that I don’t still enjoy it as-is.) No doubt much of the exposed anatomy would get scrubbed, and that’s a bit sad, but it’s always neat to see an artist go back and basically try new angles on their own work. It’s like an insight into their thought-processes.
I wish you luck with it all. :j
