Kind of hard to determine if a magic-user is or is not actually a dangerous psychopath when you torment them in their dreams to the point of them totally freaking out when they finally see you.
One would think it would be better to simply observe their dreams as they are, to see what kind of imagery and impulses go by on a regular basis.
At any rate, this whole “I’m not going to talk to you, you’re just coming with me” routine is gonna force conflict. Especially with a tired, frustrated, frightened, strung-out bear.
dreams aren’t always the best way to judge a person. i have dreams all the time where if someone else could observe them i would no doubt be wearing a straight jacket in a padded room and be heavily medicated.
that said, Evon is justified in attacking him since he’s already attacked her through her dreams and has even now made threats against her. what troubles me are the tactics he uses. he’s already weakened here through lack of sleep so she’s far from being at full strength, won’t be able to think quickly in a fight, and is more reactionary than anything else right now. he’ll use this to his advantage since he has training, skill, and likely items that will make the fight easier as well. she can only really hope that Hero or Belvidier will show up to help out. =/
I agree on all points, he wants her exactly like this, in order to exploit her exhaustion. Many fighters in real life use very similar tactics, wear down their opponent, then goad them into doing reckless things, causing defenses to crumble and then exploiting that to nail an (often) far easier victory that trying to slug it out toe to toe at full strength. If this guy throws an actual strike, it’ll be aimed to be a single, crippling blow, while Evon will likely pepper the whole area with lots of strong, draining, and completely inaccurate shots that will never touch the hunter.
Oh, it’s very much a clever tactic. My point is that it’s not _fair_, as far as objectively judging the morality and motivations of a magic-user. Which makes him a biased jerk, which means that he deserves a class-A butt-stomping. 😛
Okay you’d have to be a complete idiot to do what he did and not know that the only response you’d get is an attack spell to the face so he clearly only interested in creating a battle to have an excuse to kill her since he hasn’t any kind of authority to be making such demands of anyone particularly given the flimsy basis for his going after her in the first place and making no effort to learn the truth of things.
Someone’s going to be keeping an eye on her since Belvediere clearly realized there was a threat to her after she mentioned her dreams to him and he looks to be WAY too competent to fail to arrange some measure of protection for her. It’ll likely be delayed so we can see a quick battle with Evon on the losing end due to his dream attacks then a Big Damn Heroes moment or maybe even her switching things around and taking him out just as Hero’s running up to save her. I favor the former though as it hopefully would lead to a ‘I’ve been such a fool!’ declaration from Hero as he’s holding her and looking into her eyes as all the UST is finally resolved.
Look out! Angry Evon!
But But she is going to beat him up, right?! (sorry horrible pun)
Look out Evon, he has you at a disadvantage with your lack of sleep!

How about having Evee show up, on Evons’ side, since oold dark and nasty is as much, if not more, a threat to her as to Evon?????? WCJ
how bout both ( both , both is good) Evee and Hero,,, cuz Evon is in no shape to do a long mage battle..

This! This is what I’m saying, and I completely agree.
Called it. But one can hope Hero was following not far behind? Maybe?

Green panel!
Evon’s gonna be more dangerous since her lack of sleep can make her unpredictable.
