As all her charming political savy she may have, Sh doesn’t realise that The Cabel truly don’t care about anyone elses agendas but their own, and if a kingdom needs to be taken out for their plans and to remove their enemies then they shall. And Cleo doesn’t even realise it. I see an invasion of the Cabel crashing the wedding. And if we are all lucky, Cleo will be taken out and her father will declare war on the Cabel.
If Cleo had any inkling of what the Cabal was, she’d have sent Evon packing long ago, not realizing they only know Evon was there because they (the Cabal) already had an agent in place.
now.. Hero needs to step up. as to why he dont want a wedding or if he has qualms about the rules of the wedding/business.. he needs to take it to the king/ father,, or at least explain to Cleo,, other wise shes going to be married and absolve him of all rights,, then he will come back to no home and title…..
he’s a knight, correct??
Technically, Hero would still be lord of his lands, with Cleo subservient (not sure if that’s the right word) to him. But Cleo’s attitude plus the fact that she’s the King’s daughter would lend her far more power than a bride would normally have in such a marriage. Though, to be fair, we don’t know how indulgent the King is with Cleo, so we truly don’t know how much hell she’d be allowed to raise if Hero put his foot down.
As for Hero “stepping up” and saying “the wedding is off”, as has been stated earlier, he was betrothed to Cleo years ago. Cleo is the only one who can call things off without massive fallout. And Hero’s too honorable a guy to A) defy his liege lord, B) put the his loyal servants and people in the crosshairs by taking the “L” and walking away.
Evon could ‘accidentally-on-purpose’ show to Cleo’s father something he’d want…
a holding waiting to be ‘acquired by marriage’ that is NOT already under ‘his’ liege
After all, Evon is a noble herself AND she is not betrothed to anyone.
The ONLY way her property were to ‘join his kingdom’ is if one of his followers were to marry her.
guess who is the only noble of his kingdom with even an outside chance of doing that.
Guess who Evon would have nothing to do with if Hero is forced into this arranged (and hellish) marriage with the princess
I still think the (find proof she was cheating on him) idea would work, sadly though it seems she is too busy being a bitch to hero, for her to cheat on him right now.
Actually, it wouldn’t work. Hero already knows that it’s not uncommon for nobles to have affairs, he told Evon during the party to celebrate his return home.
Also considering that his bride just said he could keep Evon as a side fling if he really wanted. As if he’d touch her with a 50m pole. So no the cheating angle wouldn’t work in this situation.
and those politics could pull Hero out of this mess.
After all, Evon is now a noble herself and has a sizable estate obligated to nobody (particularly Cleo’s father)
I’m pretty sure Cleo’s father wouldn’t mind adding such an estate to his control.
The only way to do that is to have one of his followers marry her and take a look at who that someone could be
Cleo is a straight A bitch, all for the glamor of a princess who think they have no obstacles to stop them from what they want! Evon could snuff her Rich bitch attitude with a well placed zap like a fly zapper on the nose!
That eye expression though. Somehow I can’t help but marvel at the real multifaceted characters and wonder if she does love hero deep down but doesn’t express it per her position, power and greed flaws aside, if she’s waiting on him to handle his duties and stop running. Hm….
Well, since no one else has mentioned the obvious thing that will happen, I will. Evee is going to show up, fall in love with Cleo because of her awesome grasp of ‘doing what we’re supposed to do for the good of the kingdom’…they’re going to be so epic as a lioness on bear-clone-ess couple, that the king will be like ‘Daaaamn, I can have THAT as an ally? Weddings OFF.” …and then all the fanboys and fangirls will cry, because now in theory Evon can marry Hero…BUT Hero doesn’t want to get married, because he’s too wrapped up in his own little definition of being a wandering knight/mercenary…so Evon runs off crying…right into the arms of Belvidier, who like every good butler in an 80’s movie, turns out to actually be a total stud, and secretly the last remaining nobleman of a super rich family. *drops mike, walks off stage, having ‘nailed it’*
I am honestly wondering why Hero doesn’t put Cleo in her place.
As in:
“Cleo, listen up for I am going to say this once and only once. If you insist on rushing this marriage, fine, BUT after that marriage you are no longer Princess Shinypants of Bratville. You would then be Lady Dent – so I strongly reccommend you to consider that and start acting the part. ”
Something like that should do to give even such a spoiled brat pause. Even a gentleman can and will only take so much shit from anyone – that also includes princesses.
I don’t know how things are doing in Brittany’s universe here; but, in our universe, the custom was/is that a prince/princess will always be one. If they marry beneath their status, the one married is raised up not the other way around. That may be why he listens to Cleo’s harping instead of standing up to her.
An agent of their enemy as best man for his wedding? My my.. she clearly displays some bad taste there….
And yes, I am well aware of the fact that neither of them knows what we know. Still…
Wow, she has no clue what Evon could do to her, huh? Just keep messin’ with Hero, if you like pain and misery.
She knows Evon is a mage. She doesn’t care. In the tradition of Alpha Bitches everywhere, she thinks “I’m the princess” is as good as armor.
Not to mention what Evee might do.
Evee for best man! 😀
To be far, Evee has bigger cojones than most of the other fellows in this comic…
… wait… isn’t Marcus the Baron that she was sleeping with while Hero was away from the castle?
Yes. Yes, he was. I just looked back at that chapter.
The aptly and ribaldly named, translating from german, Baron von Great Package?
That face… that is the face of a broken man
nah, a broken man looks far worse, He’s in that neighborhood though.

truthfully, I’m pretty sure Evon can say plenty about this. If she doesn’t, Evee certainly can.

Yup, I knew they weren’t going to get any relaxation out of going back to his home. To much politicos going on there.

Naaaaah. Can’t be. She’s just manipulative.
i think she’s just Shifty eye-ing him lol
Yeah, gotta be 🙂
