Something tells me that he’s conflicted, that he doesn’t want to betray Hero, but the prospects of that much coin going into his purse is just too tempting to deny. My only question is… will his honor win out over his desire, or… wait, who am I talking about again?
=O.O=
Crap! Watch out HERO!!!
I am pretty sure he is going to become a bad guy soon. It is less of the expression as it is the shading on his face. It looks like he is turning to the dark side. Star wars references unintended.
Be good, Venir! Be good! You’re supposed to be a hero, not a greedy mercenary! Well, not _just_ a greedy mercenary!
On the other hand, Hero simply cannot be oblivious to the fact that Venir’s trying to plant seeds, here. He should know this guy too well. I hope he’s just playing dumb to see where it goes.
I think he’s hoping that Venir will just talk it out of his system. Do I think it’s likely to be that easy? Of course not, but that’s probably what Hero’s thinking anyway. He’s used to Venir’s grumbling about money by now, they’ve been partners for years, and probably thinks that’s all it is.
I, of course, think Venir will be trying to kidnap Evon while she’s at the water filling up the skins. He could knock her out and be long gone, before Hero ever got suspicious of what was taking them so long and went to investigate. Besides, even if he saw them riding off, there wouldn’t be anything he could do about it and Venir knows it. Hero has no Gorn of his own, and by the time he got to the next town- even running flat out- Venir and Evon would be back at Maximus’ place.
I tell you, sometimes having a writer’s mind is a horrible thing. xP
I’d consider that the case, but for two things. One, Venir threw a _colossal_ hissy-fit when Hero wanted to take the job protecting Evon. It wasn’t worth the money, it would bring all kinds of trouble, “You’re on your own,” etc. Now, all of a sudden, he shows up out of the blue? And rather nonchalantly, too.
Two, Hero and Evon have had nothing but trouble on all sides for quite some time. Anyone who seems even slightly interested in Evon should be suspect, considering how many times she’s been kidnapped or endangered by now.
Venir may try to take her, but I think Hero will be waiting for that, and intervene before Venir ever gets to his galorn.
Though, I’m still hoping for a “secret heart of gold” thing from Venir, because that’d be least likely. XD
You may be forgetting that even though he won’t admit it Hero is still recovering from his injuries and may not be able to beat Venir in a fight. Granted I don’t believe we have covered Venir’s fighting prowess in any great detail yet.
Also, with all the mention of complaints about money, I don’t believe if it was revealed if he knew who Hero really is. We do know that they have traveled together for some time but Hero has been know to keep secrets from his companions (cough, Evon, cough).
I’m refering to venir’s character as a ratfink not his species, also rat fink means A person regarded as contemptible, obnoxious, or otherwise undesirableHe’s also a stool pigeon in his spar time
Uh oh!!! What could his intentions be? Find out in the next breath-taking episode of… EVON!!!

I hope your not suggesting that Hero should turn her in Venir, otherwise there will be a problem here.
I feel dumb. How is Evon pronounced?
EE-Von.
Shouldn’t that be “coins” instead of coin? After all it is more than one coin.
No in this case coin is the right word
i knew it he’s a ratfink
No Hero is a rat, Venir is a wolf 😛

I know it was a joke
Tell me something Venir, is the reward worth having a bunch arrogant wizards ruling the world as your lord and master?
